And after the storm I run and run as the rains come And I look up On my knees and out of luck, I look up
*************************************************
But there will come a time you’ll see With no more tears And love will not break your heart But dismiss your fears Get over your hill and see, what you find there With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair
Some days I can almost see what awaits on the other side of my hill. Today was not one of those days. This song by Mumford & Sons expresses my feelings well.
So glad that I am over my hill. I never wanted to love again. I was and really, I still am okay with growing old with myself. I used to be totally against loving again. It is painul when you hand over one of your most prized possessions only to have it crushed. But some amazing man has cut thru the barded wire, melted the titanium and crushed the rock encasement around my heart. I am still scared…but I know I can survive either way. 🙂
One day at a time Pat….

I’d like to second this. I got goosebumps from this line combined with the one preceding it. Loved it. Wishing you much love, Pat.

Thanks, C. I’m doing better. I’m glad you liked Mumford & Sons. They’ve been around for a while and I’ve now adopted them as one of my favorite groups. One of them plays a “killer” banjo. And of course Leonard Cohen is one of my lifelong favorites.

Sorry it’s a downer today. No doubt the hot hot weather makes a big contritution to our moods. You will be able to see the other side of the mountain again. I had never heard Mumford and Sons but they are a lot like Leonard Cohen. That’s a good thing.

The best part about a hill is the view from the top. Take advantage of the vista and the perspective it provides.

You’re right, stilllearning. The view from the top is grand. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

I think one of the most important things is to give oneself permission to have days when things don’t seem so good. Acknowledge it.
Then give yourself some mini-goals. Planning the shopping list, watering the plants, going for walk, visiting a good friend.
Look up at your ‘hill’ and then up to the sky and all the possibilities that lie in front.
Hope you wake to a better day
Lots of hugs
Caroline

Thank you, Caroline. Today was indeed a better day. I was busy and busy is almost always better for me.
And I agree that I am allowed to acknowledge a down day and accept it for what it is.
